District Youth Ministry Report

Ben Nordman, one of Chattanooga’s CCYM reps (White Oak UMC), joined the Army and is no longer able to finish duties of his office.  Jennifer Starnes (Jones UMC) has moved from Alternate to District Representative on CCYM.  Marc Mann (Brainerd UMC) is currently the second CCYM Rep for the Chattanooga District.  At-Large members of the CCYM from Chattanooga are William Hudgins (St Elmo UMC) and LaDarius Mitchell (St Elmo UMC).

 

There seems to be more interest in elections coming up this spring.   I’ve had several youth leaders and students contact me about their desire to represent Chattanooga on the CCYM.  Catlin Cundiff (Christ UMC), Amber Jones (lives in Dunlap) are the two students that have contacted me thus far.  Melissa Martin, youth director at St John UMC, has a youth interested as well. 

Don’t forget the possibility of At-Large members representing Ethnic/Racial minority groups are invited to mail in applications to the Holston Conference Youth Ministries office in Johnson City.  Chattanooga has more At-Large reps than any other district.

 

If a student is interested in running for the CCYM or an At-Large rep, they must fill out a nomination form located on the Holston Conference web site (http://holstonconference.org/youth/) have their pastor or youth leader sign the application as to their proven ability (or at least their potential) to be in leadership.

 

Chattanooga CCYM reps are doing the slide show that will back up the speakers for the CCYM presentation at the Annual Conference. 

 

CCYM wanted to make sure all youth and pastors have received their Conference Youth Ministries catalog for 2006.  It has all Conference Youth events for year. 

Events to note: 

  1. Registration deadline for Conference Youth Mission to The Cherokee Nation in Marble City, OK is April 5th.  The trip is June 17-25. 

  2. April is Mission Madness month and all youth groups are challenged to get involved in a local mission project.

  3. F.U.E.L. Youth Leader Training  April 8th  or April 29th

  4. Sr High and Jr High assemblies will happen simultaneously but be separate events at Emory & Henry College in Emory, VA.  Register by June 16th. 

 

Festival of Gifts and Talents November 5, 2006,  5:00PM Tyner UMC. 

Please call or email Jeff McBrayer (423-505-4652  or Jeff_McBrayer@tynerumc.com) if your group wants to offer a gift or talent to be considered at the Resurrection Rep from the Chattanooga District.  Those providing a talent offering need to be there between 3:30 and 4:15 depending on amount of setup needed.
