We cheated and had a "LOCK-IN"
at the YMCA from 6 - 11 on a Sunday Evening and not an all-nighter this
year!! I think it worked great cause we had a great turnout of
both youth and quite a few more adults this year!!
Thanks again to all that came out and
I hope some new connections and friendship were made. The results
of our elections are above but I hope the results of the friendships
gained will have a lasting effect!!
I've got some pictures from the
"lock-in" on my facebook (Jeff McBrayer) under "cool new pics" album.
Check it out and leave a comment or two!!
All God's Blessings to You!! |

What exactly is
a DCYM you might ask...at least I hope
you asked. It's the District Committee on Youth Ministry. We want to
model this after the CCYM (Conference CYM) where it would be primarily a
student lead group with youth leaders or representatives from the
various groups there to offer wisdom and guidance. Our GOAL... 2 reps,
1 alternate and 1 adult rep from each youth group. Then we will
meet together periodically to plan events to bring together the youth of
the United Methodist Church in Chattanooga for fellowship, fun, and worship. We
also plan the festival of Gifts and Talents each year. Let us know if you
are interested in serving with the Chattanooga District in that way!
Email us by clicking on one(or all) of the Rep's Names at the top of the page.

The Festival
of Gifts and Talents Guidelines for Chattanooga District:
·
Each youth
group can have 2 different groups or individuals offering a gift or talent.
·
An
individual or group from a church in our district must be the primary
one offering the talent (ex. Youth is the main singer with some youth,
college or adults in the back up band or doing some backup vocals)
·
It needs to
be less than 6 minutes. (so no 3 act mini-melodramas)
·
Doesn't have
to be to a "Christian" song but must be clean, uplifting, positive, etc.
·
Each youth
group present will have 2 votes for their selection for an “offering” to
be performed at Resurrection and a first runner-up (in case the selected
offering cannot fit into the Conference schedule). The talent selected
to represent Chattanooga must call and schedule with the Conference
office which weekend they will be able to offer their gift. Weekend selection is on
a first come, first serve basis again this year.
