The Chattanooga DCYM (District Committee on Youth Ministries) met on Tuesday night and thanks to all that came out for the meeting.  Brainerd (Ivy, Jimmy ), Christ (Caitlin), Dunlap(Amber), Jones (Alex), St. Elmo(Ladarius, William), Tyner(Jeff), and White Oak( Bobby, Nakita, Cameron) churches were represented.   The agenda was as follows with discussion in italics.

o      Chattanooga’s Talent…Do Well at Res??  (Only a few saw Signal Crest UMC since most all there were at first weekend.  Those that saw them said they did as well if not better than at the Festival of Gifts and Talents, which is hard to believe, they were awesome!!)

q       New Business

o      Email Lists…are you in? Who needs in? (All at the meeting were on the email list except for Cameron.  She was added.  All were encouraged to get their youth leaders or pastors or fellow students that would be interested in DCYM stuff on the list)

o      30 Hour Famine @ Christ 28^th  (Caitlin Cunduff from Christ talked about how great it was last year and that all should come out for this fun fund raiser for World Vision for more call Steve P at Christ UMC)

o      CCYM Events coming up? How Get in!  (Distributed the CCYM Conference Youth Booklets and we mostly discussed Assembly.  Jr and Sr High Assembly will be held the same week both at Emory and Henry, yet they will be separate events, different speakers, meeting places.  Sign ups and info on Conference web site)

o      Holston Conference Youth Web Page http://holstonconference.org/youth/  (see what all they have)

o      Distribute CCYM/DCYM forms.  (both on conference web site. They explain responsibilities of CCYM reps for those interested in applying. Also explains who can apply. Any upcoming 7^th-12^th graders that have shown proven leadership in their youth groups and local churches.  More DCYM election info on other form…see first button on website to download forms)

o      How to Apply for CCYM rep for Chattanooga District.  (complete application/nomination form on conference web site, send info to Jeff, email me a bio to be placed on District youth site, attend next event (June 9^th)and share about yourself to the group. Voting will take place at event.  For more info contact Jeff 505-4652.

o      Election Process Itself

§       Last year each group 2 votes (only 2 applied)

§       In DCYM Guidelines each youth group gets 3. (see conference web site for more info)

o      Next Event(where elections can be held)

§       Needs to be around June 1^st

·       Lock-in was most attended Last Year, Bowling, Battle of bands

·       Camp Jordan Day(Frisbee, football, kickball, pizza)

·       Any other ideas.

(Lock in on June 9^th at North River Y.  We lost $ last year so will prob be $10 bucks per person.  We will email with more details soon. Please call with what all may be attending

The Ultimate Reality @ Camp Lookout

      Sept 15^th -17^th  (This started as an eco-challenge event for all groups and has evolved into to Ultimate Reality Show Challenge combining elements of The Gauntlet, Fear Factor, Survivor, Real World vs Road Rules, The Inferno, American Idol, and an Eco-challenge. Plans are to start at 11:00 pm and go well into the night with many challenges.  Final Planning is still going on for this event.  All District youth leaders are invited to take a part in planning these creative events. Contact Don Washburn at Camp Lookout for next meeting…will take place down the mountain somewhere. )

o      Festival of Gifts and Talents

§       November 5th 5:00  (At least last 5 years has been first weekend of November.  Plan on being there)

§       Any other business??  (Next meeting will be Sunday Afternoon… August 20^th at 2:oo at White Oak UMC.)

Summary, We are having a Lock In at the North River YMCA on June 9^th and that is where elections for Chattanooga’s CCYM reps will be held.  2 Reps and 1 alternate are being elected.  Each group at lock in gets 3 votes.  Top 2 are Reps, 3^rd  highest in votes is Alternate.
